Abe's Review!
Pokemon is such a cute series! I'm still in my teen years and I find this show so fun. It's such a great series. It's targeted to a younger audience, but I like it! I'll also note, that I couldn't pass up this great deal. K-mart had Pokemon DVD two-packs for $7! I just had to buy one, the other DVD packaged with this one was vol. #5. You can find my review on that disc as well.

AUDIO: B+
This DVD is dubbed-only, so we only get an English track. Which is fine with me, since I like the dub of this show too. The sound is very clear, and there are no drop outs. I think Pioneer had stopped releasing Spanish videos by now (see my review on #5).

VIDEO: B+
I knew that Pioneer used the VHS masters on this DVD, which is okay, since the picture is still very nice. I swear though, everytime I watch this disc, I feel like I'm watching the VHS. I only noticed artifacting everytime we see the logo (the opening, the eye-catchers, and the logo at the end of the credits). Overall, it was a good transfer.

PACKAGING: B
The cover has a real nice picture featuring Jigglypuff and the other Pokemon, slowly dritfing into sleep (Charmander and Pikachu singing - CUTE!). The spine features another picture of Pikachu sleeping, holding a pillow in his hand, that's cute! The back has some screen captures (unlike #5). That was nice. The pictures are quite humorous as well. The insert is a screen capture of the main menu listing the episodes. The disc itself has a silk-screen image similar to the cover. Very colorful.

MENUS: B-
The menu was boring. It only listed the chapters (and each chapter is one episode). The only other menus are the Pioneer and Viz information menus. Though, I found the sounds which play when you select a chapter (IE - Pikachu calling out - "Pika!") quite amusing.

EXTRAS: N/A
There were no extras this time. No mini-comic was mentioned on the shrink wrap. No Pokerap either.

CONTENT: B+
These episodes were all filler episodes, though I liked them all. I'll briefly summarize these episodes.

(SPOILER WARNING)

In episode 40 ("March of the Exeggutor Squad"), Ash and his friends meets a magician who wishes to be famous. Later, the magician finds out that his Pokemon (I forgot their name...) can hypnotize people, and he decides to find a herd of Exeggutor to help him hypnotize everyone into coming to his preformances. But, the exeggutor soon hypnotize eachother and head to the carnival, where people have evacuated since a bomb has been planted to destroy the marching Exeggutor. With the help of the magician, Charmander was able to stop the Exeggutor from marching towards the explosives. Ash and Charmander also get a surprise at the end of this episode.

In episode 41 ("The Problem with Paras"), Meowth tries to help a girl's Paras evolve since he falls in love with her after she nursed him back to health. After a few dumb wins with the help of Meowth, Paras begins to think it's strong enough. Later, when the girl, Ash, and his friends find Paras they decide to battle against Ash's Charmeleon. Charmeleon disobeys Ash's commands, and Paras becomes frightened, but then after defeating Charmeleon with one touch, it evolves into Parasect.

In episode 42 ("The Song of Jigglypuff"), introduces Jigglypuff, and singing Pokemon, though the one Misty finds is unable to sing, but with a few lessons, Jigglypuff finally learns how to, and Ash and the gang decide to let Jigglypuff preform infront of a city, since they find that people who hear Jigglypuff's song fall to sleep and are unable to listen to it's song. After singing to a city that literally never sleeps the next morning, people find themselves in a much more good mood than the night before and apologize to eachother for any disagreements the day before.

These episodes were all fun, so if you're a Pokemon fan, you might want to get this DVD for your collection.
